Canvas login issues: Invalid username when using email

Hi all, and thanks for your support! My cadet teacher was able to set up the Canvas account and started progressing through the notebooks yesterday, but today could not log back into Canvas. She set up a new account and was able to get in today, but then when we open up another browser to test if she'll be able to log-in again, she still can't get back in. We tried an incognito window as well. Any tips? Note: our school district does use Canvas so I am not sure if that is related to this issue.

What's the teacher's email address? dashiell-young-saver you might be able to check out what's going on under "people".

Hi @bpthomps is there an error message or something when you try to login to Canvas and are unable to?

Just guessing here, but I would suggest that they logout of all Canvas instances - both their school-hosted one and the free for teachers one - clear their cookies, restart their computer, and then login again.

I figured it out. The Canvas login prompt ask for the email and the password, but what they really want is the username and password.

My students can get into canvas, but are getting the following error when they try to open the notebook. They tried logging out and logging back in again. Any ideas ?

lbesso I think the issue is due to an unsupported feature in an older version of Safari. Unfortunately, I can't fix it right now without rewriting a major portion of the code base. Can you please ask the student to use Chrome and see if that fixes the issue?

(I would suggest updating Safari, but that usually requires updating the entire computer's OS. While recommended, this would take a while to do. I would recommend your students update their computers regularly.)
